HOTJAVA installer script for wince hpc personaljava Author: Andreas Bischoff 2005 On http://prt.fernuni-hagen.de/~bischoff/wince/Andreas_WINCE_Jornada_stuff.html#hotjava I describe the installation of SUN's hotjava browser for Windows CE. It depends on Personaljava for Windows CE from SUN. I am unable to distribute a ready made hotjava due to copyright issues. This install.bat script will create a suitable browser2.jar for Windows CE for you. No Java development kit is needed! It uses Unix-like tools (zip, jar, wget) from http://cygwin.com/ Licence: Not responsible for errors in content, meaning, tact, or judgement. Live and let live. Toes go in first. I didn't do it. Enjoy. Cygwin DLL and utilties are Copyright © 2000, 2001,2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 Red Hat, Inc. Other packages have other copyrights. and cemkdir.exe cecopy.exe from the "Desktop Tools for Windows CE", Author Rainer Keuchel, see http://www.rainer-keuchel.de/software.html ------------ Howto: Unpack the archive (you have done it already, right? ;-) Install Personaljava to /program files/java/ (if not done before) Connect to the internet Connect you device with activesysnc Run install.bat Finally run /program files/java/browser2.jar (double tab) You can delete the created directories on your PC later (The hotjava.exe installer for Windows will still work!). What it does technically: -It will download hotjava.exe (the hotjava installer for windows). -Then it extracts automaticaly Browser.jar from it. -It unpacks the Browser.jar. -It downloads an additional class-file. -It creates a new ready to run jar file browser2.jar for Windows CE (With MainClass) -It creates the directory /program files/java/.hotjava -It copies a suitable properties file for hotjava to this directory If you like to install it on a JVC MP-C33 [JVC-Victor Interlink MP-C303] copy properties.JVCMP-C33 to properties before. Please be patient hotjava IS slow on windows ce. If some error message boxes occurs (up to 10 times on Jornada, due to the lack of memory), just close them! Hotjava is known to work on a Jornada 680 (690) and JVC MP-C33 [JVC-Victor Interlink MP-C303]. (maybe it works on other HPC's too) It will NOT run on PocketPC's, I sorry about that too. Enjoy it!
